"Five or six is still too young for a job," Marcus answers as he crouches and lifts Sabrina up onto his hip, grinning at her. "But I'll sign for your teeth and then I think we ought to find someone who can take over your shift for you. I don't want you staying here on your own like this."

She's far too young, even if she isn't really. Someone is bound to take advantage of that.

"You're adorable," he says. "I'm allowed to say that, right, as your father? You're absolutely the cutest thing I've seen."
