Charlie has a habit of sleeping light that he developed after one of his mom's stays in hospital. So, when his phone buzzes on his bedside table, he picks it up and blearily reads the message. The word "emergency" sends a shockwave through him and he's up and pulling on clothes before he's even had time to think about it.

He texts Newt on his way to the car and then pulls out of the driveway, making his way through Darrow's streets, still deserted at this time of the morning. When he gets there, finds the door locked, he sends her a text to let her know that he's there and then he waits, his heart thudding in his chest.
